A hydrogen bond is a weak interaction between a partially positive hydrogen atom and a partially negative atom such as oxygen or nitrogen. Individually, hydrogen bonds are weak, but many together can stabilize biological structures. They help explain water's properties, base pairing in DNA and RNA, and secondary structures in proteins.
