This policy explains what information the Codon One app ("the app") and this website handle, and how. Codon One is developed by Daniel Gebert. We designed the app to need as little of your data as possible — there is no account, no login, and no advertising.
To understand how the app is used and where to improve it, the app sends anonymous usage events to our own server (on the biosofttec.de domain). These events include a randomly generated installation identifier (which is not linked to you, your name, or your Apple ID), the app version, your device language, the iOS version, and which features or screens are used. This data cannot be used to identify you.
If you choose to submit feedback or rate the quality of a translation, we receive the rating or text you send, along with the lesson location, app version, language, and date. Please don't include personal information in free-text feedback if you don't want it stored.
In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details. The app only stores, locally on your device, whether a module has been unlocked.
Your learning progress, quiz results, success rates, bookmarks, flashcard progress, and streaks are stored locally on your device. This information is not sent to us. If you have iCloud device backups enabled, it may be included in your encrypted Apple backup, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
If you enable them, the app schedules local reminders and short biology facts directly on your device. No data leaves your device for these notifications.
This website is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies and uses no third-party analytics or tracking scripts. To understand whether the website helps people reach the App Store, we count clicks on App Store links with a small first-party script that sends an anonymous event to our own server on the biosofttec.de domain. The event includes the page path, language, clicked App Store URL, a broad link location such as "hero" or "footer", and the time of the click. It does not store cookies, IP addresses, user agents, advertising identifiers, or referrers in our click log. As with any website, our hosting provider (IONOS) may record standard server access logs (such as IP address and time of request) for security and operation; these are handled by the host.
Codon One is a general-audience educational app and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Because the data we collect is anonymous, we generally cannot link it to a specific person and therefore cannot retrieve or delete data tied to you individually. If you have questions about your data, contact us at info@codon-one.com and we will help where we can.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
